System Requirements
CoolCalc requires:
- Device: iPhone or iPad with LiDAR sensor
- iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max or later Pro models
- iPhone 13 Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max
- iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation or later)
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation or later)
- iOS Version: iOS 17.5 or later
- Storage: At least 500 MB of free space (more recommended for multiple projects)
- Internet: Required for cloud processing and account features
Getting Started
- Create an Account: Launch the app and sign up with your credentials
- Start a New Scan: Tap the "New Scan" button to begin
- Follow On-Screen Instructions: Move your device slowly around the room
- Save Your Scan: Give your scan a name and save it to your project
- View & Share: Access your scans from the project list
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why isn't the app working on my iPhone?
A: CoolCalc requires a device with a LiDAR sensor. Only iPhone Pro models (12 Pro and later) and recent iPad Pro models have this capability. Standard iPhone models do not support LiDAR scanning.
Q: How do I get the best scanning results?
A: For optimal results:
- Scan in well-lit environments
- Move slowly and steadily around the room
- Keep the camera pointed at walls and objects
- Avoid rapid movements or shaking
- Scan the entire room including all corners
Q: How do I merge multiple rooms?
A: Scan each room individually and save them to the same project. You can then select multiple scans and use the merge feature to combine them into a complete building model.
Q: What file format does CoolCalc use?
A: CoolCalc exports 3D models in USDZ format, which is compatible with most 3D software, AR applications, and can be shared easily on iOS devices.
Q: How much storage do scans use?
A: File sizes vary depending on room complexity, but typically range from 5-50 MB per room. Larger or more detailed spaces may require more storage.
Q: Can I use CoolCalc offline?
A: Yes, you can scan and save projects offline. However, cloud processing features and account sync require an internet connection.
Troubleshooting
The app crashes or won't open
- Make sure you're running iOS 17.5 or later
- Restart your device
- Delete and reinstall the app
- Ensure you have sufficient storage space
Scans are not processing
- Check your internet connection
- Verify you're logged into your account
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- Contact support if the issue persists
Poor scanning quality
- Ensure adequate lighting in the room
- Move more slowly during scanning
- Clean your device's camera lens
- Avoid scanning reflective or transparent surfaces
